School House Choppers

Who is School House Choppers? 

We have 8th grade students from the Jackson, Michigan area that work hard to build all kinds of things including CHOPPERS!
They better not have trouble getting out of bed, because these engine technology students start their morning at 7:40 and spend the first 2 hours of the day learning about every mechanical aspect of engines.  Within a one year time period the students go from hammer to torque wrench.  i.e. (they learn a lot)

What Is School House Choppers?

School House Choppers is the result of one man’s dream to reach and teach a lost group of students that simply needed a different approach to learning.  In short we are teaching middle school students Applied Math, Science, and English through the process of building choppers.  Building the choppers has been both a great motivator and a way to build pride in student’s lives.  The program builds confidence and character in students by teaching them to fabricate and assemble parts, creating beautiful works of engineering art.  We are finishing our third year of “learning while turning,” and can see both short and long term impacts the program has had on our students.  What a success!  While it does get stressful having middle school students work with thousands of dollars worth of parts, the benefits can clearly be illustrated on the faces and in the lives of the kids you see on this site.   

Where is School House Choppers?

We are located in Parma, Michigan.  Western middle school is home to the infamous School House Choppers and the not so infamous Mr. Ted Densmore. (Our fearless teacher)  Inside these walls beat the hearts of several excited, enthusiastic, and sometimes crazy engine technology students.
